Agility

Monday, October 2 & Tuesday, October 3

Purina Event Center

Trial Chair: Cheri Omnus

Trial Secretary: David Williamson

Opening Date: August 9

Closing Date: September 15

Judge: Karen Winter (Bio)

For the first time ever at the Bearded Collie National Specialty, we will have 2 days of agility!!!!

Yes, you read that correctly! We are having 2 days of agility at our Specialty, and for those who like to do even more days — you can, giving you up to 5 days of agility in a row!

At the National Specialty we will be hosting our agility days on October 2nd & October 3rd at Purina Farms in the Event Center. On Monday we will run a 1 ring trial, indoor on soccer turf, and on Tuesday we'll have 2 rings of soccer turf.

On October 2nd, we will be offering the following classes: Novice A & B Standard and Jumpers, Open Standard and Open Jumpers and Master/Excellent Standard and Master/Excellent Jumpers. Start time is at noon. This is a change.

After the end of the trial on Monday, we will be hosting our BAD dinner right there at Purina, so it makes it easy for everyone to attend.

On October 3rd we will be offering All Fast Classes, Time 2 Beat, All Standard Classes, and All Jumpers Classes along with the fun-and-always-exciting Relay.

Our Judge for the 2-day event will be Karen Winter. She is from the St. Louis area. David Williamson will be our trial secretary.

Entries will open on August 9th and close September 15th. Note New Closing Date!

If you want to add more agility days, there is a 3-day trial on September 29th - October 1st at the Sports Academy in Glen Carbon, IL, which is about an hour's drive from Purina Farms. The Sports Academy is a 2-ring trial on soccer turf, and judging are Chris Dewey and Richard Kurawa. To get the premium when available go to http://www.labtestedsecretary.com or email Carolyn Johnson at Carolyn.johnson@labtestedsecretary.com. For online entries, go to www.labtestedonline.com.

Agility Relay!

Attention Beardie Enthusiasts!! It's time to start planning for the relay. This year we are offering 3 different ways to enter:

  1. 1. Get 3 Beardie friends together and make a team. You can come up with a name and can do shirts if you like.
  2. Do you have a veteran Beardie 9 years or older who's still running agility? Make a 3-Beardie team with veterans. Be sure to write VETERAN TEAM on the relay entry form.
  3. Do you have a retired Beardie? Well, you can run your dog in the Glory relay run. You don't need to make up a team of 3. The retired dogs will run the relay first and will go one at a time. Be sure to add RETIRED BEARDIE to the relay entry form.

Start getting your teams together! Entries open Wednesday, August 9th.

Volunteers Needed!

Agility trials couldn't happen without large numbers of volunteers, and this year's event is no exception. Please volunteer! If you're competing, we'll work around your schedule. If you're brand-new to the sport, we'll start you off with an easy job (most volunteer jobs are actually easy jobs). You can see a list of the typical volunteer jobs for agility on the Help Wanted page.

Don't Forget — we're offering a special Workers' Only Raffle! Workers and Raffle donations will both be gratefully accepted.

Now that you're all psyched up to help us make the agility trial the best ever, contact Cheri Omnus (Trial Chair) or David Williamson (Trial Secretary). We really appreciate your help!

What Are These Events, Anyway?

What the heck is T2B? How about FAST? If you've been wondering what some of these events/classes are, here are the rules. Check them out — maybe you'll want to enter!
